KOHAT: District police on Thursday foiled an attempt to smuggle 100 kilograms of hashish, worth millions of rupees from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to Punjab and arrested an inter-provincial drug-peddler gang.
While addressing a press conference, Saddar DSP Hussain Ghulam Bangesh said that Police received a tip that drug peddlers would attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of hashish from KP to Punjab.
He said that taking action, police teams were directed to remain vigilant and check vehicles on Kohat Indust Highway, adding that during the checking, a police team intercepted a coach near Muslimabad Check post and after searching the coach thoroughly, found 100 kilogram hashish.
Police arrested the drug peddlers, identified as Naqibur Rehman and Niaz Ahmed, and took them to the police station for further interrogation.
DPO Javed Iqbal appreciated the efforts of the police team for busting the gang of drug peddlers and announced commendation certificates and cash prizes.
