4 more polio cases found in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan on Monday, the total number of poliovirus cases reached 41 during the current year.
According to the KP Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), One case each found in Balochistan’s Jafarabad and Killa Abdullah district and two other cases were detected from Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
An eight-month-old was diagnosed with the poliovirus in the Jafarabad and a nine-month-old was in the Qila Abdullah area while a two and a half-year-old and a one-year-old were diagnosed in Bannu.
According to sources, the parents of three children had refused to get them vaccinated during anti-polio drives and had made excuses to be exempted.
The KP EOC said Bannu has been declared a high-risk widespread area of polio. Moreover, the number of polio cases detected in Bannu this year has risen to 16.
Two cases have found from Balochistan, three cases from Punjab, 33 from KPK and eight cases from Fata.
