A Sindh High Court (SHC) bench on Wednesday granted interim bail to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Manzoor Wassan. According to a private new channel, the court forbade the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting Wassan. The accountability bureau had earlier launched an inquiry against Manzoor Wassan for accumulating assets beyond income. Wassan had filed a petition seeking bail from the high court in an ongoing accountability inquiry against him. Manzoor Wassan’s counsel argued before the high court bench that the NAB had falsely accused his client. Last year, the NAB executive board had approved the inquiry against Manzoor Wassan and his other family members. In January this year, NAB had asked the Sindh revenue authorities to provide a complete record of properties owned by Manzoor Wassan and his other family members, including sons-in-law, his wife, sons and daughters. NAB Sukkur had directed revenue authorities to submit a detailed record of Wassan family’s properties to them.
