DIG Investigation Dr Inaam Waheed was removed from his post by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar after he was caught deceiving Prime Minsiter Imran Khan in the case of a missing student of a private university.
Anti-Corruption Establishment Director General Ijaz Shah was ordered by chief minister to inquire the matter and submit a report within a week.
Prime Minister showed his displeasure over the irresponsible behaviour of the DIG regarding the kidnap of a female student of a private university on Raiwind Road. The action was taken when the mother of the abducted girl filed a complaint on the PM portal and told him that her 19-year-old daughter was missing from past five months. She told that the DIG misbehaved with her and was unable to find her daughter.
Reports stated that she had gone missing on November 4 after she left home for the university. During this period she visited the local police station several times but no one helped her. The mother also met the then Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Saqib Nisar. He ordered to register the case and recover the girl.
The case was lodged after which the DIG misbehaved with the complainant and misled the then CJ by giving a false report, the official said. He further added that the mother filed a complaint to the PM on February 19. The PM strictly ordered the IGP to recover the girl and said that the DIG again misled the higher-ups by filling a false report that the girl had left home on her wish.
The woman further told that police tortured her son and close relatives in the police station. This further angered the PM who then asked the IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi to recover the girl by March 29.
The girl was finally recovers by police on March 26 and the DIG reported that she was recovered from a private hostel of Islamabad. PM directed the officials to take her to Darul Aman.
When the woman again complained to the PM that the DIG was not handing over her daughter to the family, Imran Khan issued order for action against the senior officer.
