The Pakistan People’s Party is adamant that Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan should tender his resignation over his alleged rude and arrogant attitude.
Although, Chohan has tendered an apology to journalists on floor of the house over his rude remarks towards the media persons, Parliamentary leader of PPP in Punjab Assembly Syed Hassan Murtaza refused to budge on his demand to take the resignation of Chohan.
“This person gets place in political parties due to his harsh words towards the opponents as he was once associated with Jamaat-e-Islami and got elected on the ticket of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal in 2002 but later joined the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid, which was the king’s party at that time,” said Syed Hassan Murtaza while talking to Daily Times.
“He is once again in the king’s party and I am sure that he will definitely leave the PTI in its harsh time,” Murtaza added.
Journalists to hold demonstration against Punjab Information Minister Chohan over his rude remarks
He further commented that Chohan was expelled from Jamaat-e-Islami due to the corruption and malpractice as he was proven guilty of corruption in the procurement of sewing machines that were brought to distribute among poor women by the JI.
Hassan Murtaza of PPP also submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly to condemn the attitude of Chohan towards the media and also demanded his resignation. “The PPP will not take back its resolution although he has tendered an apology,” said Murtaza.
“It has become a routine matter for the ministers of PTI to disregard journalists. Earlier, national leaders were at the target of PTI but now they have started targeting the fourth pillar of the state,” said the resolution that was also signed by the PML-N MPAs.
“This house demands immediate resignation from Chohan because there is a great resentment among media persons over his rude remarks,” the resolution concluded.
On the other side, Chohan continued his tirade against the PPP and PML-N on Thursday outside the Punjab Assembly and said that he would keep saying that both parties had plundered wealth of the nation.
It is worth mentioning here that members Lahore Press Club, Press Gallery members and Joint Action Committee will once again hold a protest in the Punjab Assembly today (Friday) against Chohan.
The media persons also boycotted the event where Chohan was speaking on Wednesday at Hameed Nizami Press Institute due to his alleged anti-journalists remarks.
