LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Wednesday summoned prosecution and service and general administration departments secretaries today (Thursday) on a plea filed by female lawyers seeking their recruitment according to 15 percent quota.
The counsel for petitioners told the court that the government had earlier decided to recruit female lawyers according to 15 percent quota but refused to honour its commitment later.
He said that the government had challenged the 15 percent quota for female lawyers in the Supreme Court.
He said that the government decision should be declared illegal. He requested the court to issue directives to the government to recruit female prosecutors according to the 15 percent quota.
Separately, LHC CJ Syed Mansoor Ali Shan Wednesday directed some responsible officer from the President House to appear on June 20 to explain as to why the pension of LHC PCO judge Syed Sajjad Hussain was not released.
The judge issued the directives while hearing a petition of Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah.
The counsel for the petitioner said that his client was not given perks and privileges, including the pension, whereas the president exercising his discretionary powers allowed pension to five other PCO judges.
He said that the petitioner had also forwarded a representation to the president for release of his pension. He requested the court to issue directives for release of the petitioner’s pension.
