ISLAMABAD: Advisor to prime minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz will attend ‘Heart of Asia Conference’ in India amid continuing skirmishes between the two nuclear-armed neighbours at the borders.
According to the reports, Sartaj would travel to India via Wagah border on December 4 and would return to the country on the same day.
The statement comes at a time when Pakistan’s neighbouring arch-rival is busy in efforts to isolate it on international level and has, at the same time, engaged on the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary.
Heart of Asia Conference – a two-day conference –will see representatives of 40 countries. Earlier, this conference was held in Islamabad and Indian Foreign Minister SushmaSwaraj attended the event.
The government has decided to take part in the meeting but on the other hand, opposition parties have opposed the plan and urged Sartajto not attend the conference due to the prevailing border tensions. Some experts believe that the participation weighs in the country’s interest – as Pakistan should not be out of the game.
According to the experts, Pakistan made several efforts via dialogues between the Taliban and the Afghan government but the process was sabotaged when an attack by the US killed Amir of the terror group – Mullah AkhtarMansoor.
Pakistan will have chances of contacts with representatives of other countries regarding Afghanistan and India – opening doors of dialogue for resolution of the on-going tension between the two countries. They also suggested that Pakistan’s appearance sendsa message of peace and love.
