KARACHI: West Indies women cricket team beat Pakistan by 71 runs in first T20 International at Southend Club of Karachi on Thursday.
Batting first West Indies team scored 160 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. For West Indies opener Deandra Dottin scored unbeaten 60-ball 90-run. She was well supported by Chedean Nation, who scored 50* off just 35 balls.
Chasing the target of 160-2, Pakistani team were bowled out at 89 runs. Apart from Javeria Khan (19) and Captain Bismah Maroof (38), no player of the home team managed to enter in double figure.
SS Connell took three wickets for the visiting team. Earlier, Dottin scored an explosive 90 on 60 balls, while Nation hit a half-century on 35 balls after West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first.
Both teams are playing in Pakistan after 2004 when West Indian team toured the country for seven One Day Internationals (ODIs) and single Test match.
This is Pakistan’s 100th T20I, out of which the green shirts have won 40 games and lost 56. Meanwhile, West Indian team has played 112 T20Is, winning 65 and losing 41. In one-on-one matches, West Indies is leading by 6-1 in nine T20Is.
