LAHORE: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khurshid Shah on Friday claimed that his party would end corruption from the country within 90 days after coming into power.
Talking to the media in Lahore, Shah said that due to wrong decisions and inexperienced politics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received a lot of help.
He further said that the country’s foreign policy was quite confusing and the international community was surprised at the absence of a regular foreign minister.
He further said that leaders in the current government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were “undemocratic” and had been enjoying ties with banned outfits from day one of their regime.
He said the PPP believes in parliamentary struggle, therefore it always did politics inside parliament. He claimed that the Qatri prince who wrote a letter in favour of the government had business in Pakistan and was a partner of the rulers.
Khurshid Shah said he was not sure if the prime minister would be able to survive the Panama Papers case. He added that it was unfortunate that the prime minister was in need of a prince’s letter to state his position. He sarcastically wondered whether after the prince’s letter a pot of gold would also appear.
Qamar Zaman Kaira, another PPP leader, clarified that former president Asif Ali Zardari’s return at this time of the year was his party’s unanimous decision. Commenting on the Panamagate, Kaira said the Qatari prince was the one who partnered with Saifur Rehman.
Speaking on this occasion, PPP’s Nisar Khuhro said that his party wanted a much-needed population census at the earliest in the country. The entire PPP leadership also hoped that under the young leadership of Bilawal Bhutto, their party would be able to resolve pressing issues of the nation.
