ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have operationalised police communication system having the complete data of daily registered crime cases, record of criminals from the day of their arrest and release and departmental history of all police officials and employees.
The Islamabad Capital Territory Police Communication System (ICTPOLCOM) have been completed in only 47 days as the Inspector General of Police Tariq Masood Yasin was assigned the task to develop this integrated system soon after assuming charge of IGP office.
The IGP formally reviewed this system on Tuesday in a meeting which was also attended among others by Additional Inspector General Nisar Ahmed Khan Tanoli, Superintendent of Police Aamir Khan Niazi, IT Director Saleem Raza Sheikh and IT Staff Officer to Inspector General of Police Syed Imtiaz Ahmed Shah.
The complete data of police stations with effect from January 1, 2016 has been inserted in this system while further record is being updated. IGP Islamabad has said that this is modern system in policing history of Pakistan and it would have complete data of daily registered crime cases, record of criminals from the day of their arrest and release and departmental history of all police officials and employees.
On daily basis, the data of each police station is being incorporated while IGP Islamabad, DIG, SSP (Operations), Zonal SPs, SDPOs, SHOs and police operators can access this data round the clock even on their smart phones, laptops and personal computers. This system has complete security features and anyone trying to access it wrongly would be traced through generation of a computerized message.
The IGP also reviewed the users of this system since its inception on June 2016 and it was revealed that no Station House Officers except Shalimar, Shams Colony, Industrial Area, Khanna and Nilore police stations have used it.
The Zonal SPs used it frequently, SDPOs Margalla and Sihala Circles used this system for only two hours each, SDPOs Golra and Shamas Colony used it for an hour each while SDPO Bhara Kau used it for less than one hour.
The IGP Islamabad directed the relevant authorities to train the officers not using this system and acquaint them very well about this modern technique. He said this system would be very helpful for effective policing and any reported deficiency in this system would be tackled.
