LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood said on Monday that his statement regarding Basant was misquoted by the media, a local news channel reported.
According to Mashhood, Basant was going to be held in Lahore in stages and was to be celebrated in specific areas only.
Punjab government Spokesperson Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri negated Mashhood’s statement just a few minutes after his announcement – leading to a new controversy.
Earlier, the minister – while talking to media at National Hockey Stadium – had said that as member of the Basant committee, ‘kites will be flown soon in Lahore’.
