ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain extended their wholehearted greetings to the Christian community on the occasion of Christmas.
In his message, President Mamnoon said, “On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, I extend my heartiest greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and across the world on this joyous occasion of Christmas.”
He said that Christmas reminded us about the teachings of Jesus Christ (PBUH) and his message of love, peace, tolerance and compassion for humanity.
The president said that Jesus Christ (PBUH) was equally revered by both Christians and Muslims. He said, “We Muslims regard him as the chosen messenger of Almighty Allah, and like our Christian brethren, we also believe his teachings are a beacon of light not only for the Christian community but also for the whole of humanity.”
Mamnoon also commended the role of the Christian community in the development of the country. He was of the view that the role of the Christian community in the progress of Pakistan was unforgettable and their patriotism was laudable. He added, “We believe that the Christian community will continue to play a vibrant role in the progress and prosperity of our homeland.”
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also extended his greetings to the Christian community on Christmas.
In his message, the prime minister said, “On the auspicious occasion of Christmas, I extend my heartiest felicitations and wish a merry Christmas to our Christian brethren in Pakistan and all over the world.”
The prime minister acknowledged the productive role being played by all the minorities for the progress of Pakistan, particularly the Christian community.
Nawaz said, “I greatly appreciate their patriotism, devoted service and sincere attachment to the country and am confident that they will continue to play their due role for peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan with complete dedication.”
