PESHAWAR: Polling for by-election to be conducted for 21 vacant seats of rural, neighbourhood councils of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) would be held tomorrow (Tuesday).
According to a handout issued by the KP Department of Information, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has concluded all preparations for the by-election for vacant local government seats in the 11 districts of KP.
The by-election is scheduled to be conducted in Nowshera, Mardan, Karrak, Haripur, Mansehra, Shangla, Tank, Abbotabad, Batagram, Swat, and Chitral. Approximately 90,195 voters are expected to poll for the vacant slots in their respective councils. The handout maintained that 81 polling stations across the province have been set up for both men and women.
The required numbers of ballot papers have been fixed for each district and security arrangements have been implemented.
The slots among various districts of KP had been vacant after the local body election. The ECP then announced to hold by-election to complete the process of local government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
