PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Labour Minister Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli has assured that steps will be taken to restore the labour workers dismissed from employment by Pakistan Tobacco Company (PTC) Nowshera.
She said that efforts would be made for release of labour leader Ihsaunllah from Jail and advised labour union to show tolerance. She also summoned the joint meeting of factory management, affected labourer representatives, labour union leaders and labour department, on upcoming Wednesday.
Agendas for the meeting include finding a sustainable solution to the issue and the possibility of restoration of dismissed workers.
The minister took the view point of workers’ representatives under consideration and arranged a meeting. Amongst those present in the meeting were PTC Company Manager Akhter Baig, Human Resource Manager Arif, Director labour Irfanullah, Assistant Director Labour Nowshera and leaders of labour union.
The minister took issues of both the parties under consideration and summoned a joint meeting of the stakeholders on 30th November, 2016. On the other hand, Motahida Mazdoor Alliance (United Labour Alliance) demanded release of their Union leader Ihsanullah from Jail and restoration of 144 labour workers terminated by the company.
After thorough discussion with company management and labour workers outside PTC Nowshera, he said instead of agitation, way of dialogue should be adopted for the suitable solution of matter and hoped that a solution could emerge.
She added the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Qumi Watan Party Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao directed her to find an amicable solution to the matter.
The minister assured to raise voice for the protection of rights of labourers and underlined the need for obeying the rule of law.
